Aleksandra was born in 1996 in Warsaw, Poland. She is currently based in London, where she has been studying Fine Art at the University of Westminster for the past two years.
Janowska's painting techniques are constructed through connecting different mediums, tools and methods, but resin, acrylic and oil paints are her favourites. Constantly looking to push boundaries, Janowska experiments with colour and form encouraging the audience to be challenged by her work.
Her work focuses on human body, femininity and the inadequacy of how social constraints gender roles. In her last body of work Janowska explores one of the most sensitive topics in modern society, that is gender.
Through her paintings, she is trying to ask audience questions such as: What does it mean to be a man or a woman in XXI century? Does it actually mean anything? What we have between our legs doesn’t influence our gender, so how can we distinguish genders only from appearances and behaviours? What makes man a man and woman a woman?
